Connected landscapes are critical to sustaining diversity and resiliency in a changing climate. The Tug Hill plateau is the largest connected landscape in the St. Lawrence Eastern Lake Ontario Region, spanning nearly 2,100 with nearly 275 square miles of unfragmented core forest.

SLELO PRISM’s invasive forest pest prevention efforts and restoration work aim to protect the Tug Hill region and the connected forested landscapes within and surrounding the region. Protecting connected landscapes from invasive forest pests and restoring native trees increases the forest’s ability to store carbon and mitigate the impacts of climate change. ‘
