As part of our mission to protect our waters from invasive species, SLELO PRISM and our partners at the Thousand Islands Land Trust are co-administrating a watercraft inspection steward program. Watercraft Inspection Stewards often act as the first line of defense against the spread of aquatic invasive species. They look for and remove plant, animal and other debris that may hitchhike on boats and recreational equipment and has the potential to be spread to different waterbodies.  They also raise awareness for invasive species and help boaters understand the ways that they can help stop the spread of invasive species and protect the waters they enjoy. This year we have 10 watercraft inspection stewards with coverage at more than 30 launches across the region. The map below shows the SLELO/TILT boat launch steward program coverage in addition to other steward programs within the region.
