Fish Creek Wildlife Management Area

 

About this Priority Conservation Area

The Fish Creek Wildlife Management Area (WMA) is located near the towns Macomb and De Peyster, St. Lawrence County. This WMA is a 4,438-acre area and includes a 2,046-acre natural wetland and 2,392 acres of mostly softwood and young hardwood forests. There are a few parking areas and cartop launches into Fish Creek with interpretive panels. Wildlife potentially encountered includes muskrats, beavers, marshbirds as well as other mammals, fish, reptiles, amphibians, and insects that inhabit or migrate through the state.   • Canada Thistle (Cirsium arvense)
  • Colts Foot (Tussilago farfara)
  • Common buckthorn (Rhamnus cathartica)
  • Common Mullein (Verbascum Thapsus)
  • Elecampane (Inula helenium)
  • Eurpean Frogbit (Hydrocharis morsus-ranae)
  • Honeysuckle spp. (Lonicera spp.)
  • Japanese knotweed (Fallopia japonica)
  • Pale swallow-wort (Cynanchum rossicum) 
  • Purple Loosestrife (Lythrum salicaria)
  • Wild Parsnip (Pastinaca sativa)
