Hemlock Woolly Adelgid (HWA) kills hemlock trees. Hemlocks are a key tree species for healthy forests in the Tug Hill region and elsewhere, and your efforts can make a difference in preventing the spread of this insect. From November through March, SLELO PRISM and the Tug Hill Tomorrow Land Trust will be leading guided walks to show participants how to survey for hemlock woolly adelgid and report observations to the iMapInvaisves free mobile app.
We will be outside for the entire workshop, so participants should dress for the weather.
Attendees are encouraged to make a free iMapInvasives user account and download the iMap mobile app prior to attending the hike (see details below). By searching for and reporting observations, volunteers aid a state-wide effort to monitor for and manage HWA.
