Join a manual water chestnut removal effort on the Oswegatchie River on Friday, July 11th, 2025.
Participants should arrive by 9:45 AM and have their boats ready to launch. The event will kick off promptly at 10 AM with an overview of water chestnut and a hand-pull technique demonstration.
Participants will be guided on a paddle between the Village of Heuvelton Boat Launch and Eel Weir State Park. There will be two groups launching from two different launch sites. Each paddle route is approximately 3 and a half miles long, totaling between 3 and 4 hours, depending on how many plants we find and paddle speeds.
Participants should bring their watercraft, and life jackets are required. Some kayaks, seats in canoes, and life jackets can be borrowed upon request, but space is limited and will be offered on a first-come, first-served basis.

Registration is required to attend this event and should be completed by each participant no later than July 9th to allow time to process required liability waiver forms. More details regarding launch logistics will be emailed to those who register.
