2011 Annual Report

A brief summary of SLELO Accomplishments in 2011 is available on-line at the following link: 2011 Annual Report

Partners adopt “Operational Guidelines”, “Memorandum of Understanding” & set sights on 5-year “Strategic Plan”.

At the October meeting of the SLELO-PRISM, the partners agreed on a set of “Operational Guidelines” that establish how our partnership conducts business. These basic guidelines will allow the partners to conduct business in a uniform and efficient manner. Also agreed upon was the continuance of an existing Memorandum of Understanding (a.k.a. partner agreement). This component advances the effectiveness of collaboration within the PRISM.

The partners have also set our sights on developing a five year strategic plan which will include: vision, goals, objectives and long term planning. As the guidance document for the PRISM’s efforts over the next five years the Strategic Plan will be prerequisite to establishing annual work plans, which everyone is anxious to achieve. “Nice Work Partners

Education & Outreach:

SLELO partnered with the Salmon Creek Fish Hatchery and the Oswego County Soil and Water Conservation District by providing invasive species educational and outreach materials for the Fish Hatchery’s “Open House” as part of the National Hunting & Fishing Day (Sept.24th). A Message From Our Invasive Species Program Coordinator:

Hello Everyone,

I would like to introduce myself as your new Invasive Species Program Coordinator for the Saint Lawrence / Eastern Lake Ontario – Partnership for Regional Invasive Species Management (SLELO-PRISM). Educated as a freshwater biologist, my background includes work with watershed management, invasive species, nonpoint source pollution, grant writing and strategic leadership.

As your Program Coordinator, I am excited about the opportunities to work with our SLELO partners to effectively address invasive species management within the five county region that encompasses the SLELO focus area. I also look forward to meeting with members of our working group and assisting you with the development of our PRISM strategies, work plans, initiatives and projects.

Sincerely,

Rob Williams
